In the summer of 1999, I accompanied a group of friends to London to visit the Ramana Maharshi Foundation UK. At the house of Alan Jacobs, the founder, we met Paula Marvelly. Paula looked to me like a typical english lady who would have you over for tea and crumpets. When Paula told me she was in the process of writing a book on advaita satsang teachers, I was surprised. And doubly surprised that she wanted to interview me. We met in Alan's study a few days later while downstairs there were lots of people laughing and listening to spiritual stories. We sat down on a sofa bed with lots of cushions (I don't remember being particularly close to Paula) and begun.
